The BIO-SI project aims to create a Centre of Excellence in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics by combining statistical expertise in the collaborating departments in UL and NUIG.

In UL the team is led by Professor Gilbert MacKenzie, Director of the Centre of Biostatistics (CBS), while in NUI Galway it is led by Professor John Hinde.

The project provides funding for two post-doctoral research fellows (1 in Limerick and 1 in Galway) and two PhD students (1 in Limerick and 1 in Galway).

The project will attract international experts in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics  to new Centre.
