ProEngineer 4.0

ProENGINEER, PTC’s (Needham, MA) parametric, integrated 3D CAD/CAM/CAE solution is used in CABER for mechanical and biomedical design problems.

The parametric modelling approach uses parameters, dimensions, features, and relationships to capture intended product behaviour and create a proper design intent which enables design automation and the optimisation of design and product development processes. ProENGINEER provides a complete set of design, analysis and manufacturing capabilities on one platform. These capabilities include:

  • Solid Modelling
  • Surfacing
  • Rendering
  • Simulation
  • Tolerance Analysis

CABER uses Pro/ENGINEER to create complete 3D digital models of their medical device components and experimental fixture concepts. The models consist of 2D and 3D solid or surface model data which can also be used downstream in finite element analysis, rapid prototyping, tooling design, and CNC manufacturing. All data is associative and interchangeable between the CAD, CAE and CAM modules without conversion. A complicated experimental fixture assembly can be modelled accurately with fully associative engineering drawings, and revision control information.
