Dear Mr. Nolan,
I am writing to enquire if you have a vacancy in your laboratories in the Quality Control area for which I might be considered. I have a BSc in Biochemistry the University of Limerick (2:1 degree) and I am currently undertaking an MSc, also in UL. I expect to graduate in June of this year.
I have reviewed your website and your company literature in the careers library, and have spoken to Janet O’Neill who works at Hillbrook. Her comments have given me a clearer idea of the work undertaken in the laboratory, and the projects on which Biochemistry graduates are engaged. I have been impressed with your state-of-the-art laboratories, and also that Hillbrook has integrated a participatory management style into its operations.
As my CV reflects, I have previous experience in the area of Quality Control …where I …(explain what you did). You will note my graduate work also bears directly on the type of work being done at Hillbrook. (Or highlight previous summer experience, course, thesis topic, special skills etc. that might be relevant to this employer. DO highlight or expand on a relevant entry from your CV, but DO not simply repeat what is already on your CV)
I hope you will consider my application and offer me an opportunity of an interview. I will be available for interview at any time and can be contacted by email or by telephone.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Gerard McKeown.
