Your degree in Equine Science... what next?

This information aims to give a brief answer to the question 'What can I do with my degree in Equine Science? '.

The four year BSc degree in Equine Science at the University of Limerick provides students, who wish to follow a professional career in the horse industry,with the opportunity to underpin their career ambitions with specialist knowledge and skills.

This programme, unique in Europe, has been developed because of the strategic economic importance of equine and related industries, and the consequential need to produce highly qualified personnel with the specialised knowledge to exploit the potential of these industries.

What skills have you gained on your course?

As an Equine Science graduate, you will have acquired key competencies and skills that can be applied to various aspects of your daily work in the horse industry.

In addition to your specific subject knowledge, you will have developed a number of other skills whilst on your course. They will be useful to you in other contexts and a variety of career areas. For instance, you will have developed:

  • The ability to approach problems in an analytical and logical way
  • An increased technical awareness, scientific appreciation and knowledge
