Interviews

Being invited for a CoOp interview gives you the opportunity to expand on details provided in your CV; it means that your CV has succeeded. Someone is interested in you, and they want to know more! Many employers come on campus to interview but some prefer to interview at their own premises. For international placements, employers will typically interview by phone or skype.

An interview has been described as "a conversation with a purpose". So you should see yourself as an active participant. The interviewer wants to know about you, but you should also be trying to find out more about the job and the company.

How do I know if I have an interview?

Normally, we will notify you of any interviews by putting a notice on the online CoOp noticeboard, you must check this daily. As discussed during the Employability Programme, employers may require attendance at interview at short notice therefore it is your responsibility to be ready for interviews at all times. Outside of term, you will be contacted via the mobile phone number that you have provided to the CoOp office.

NB If you are called to a CoOp interview, you are obliged to attend. Non-attendance at an interview could result in your withdrawal from future CoOp interviews.
