Graduate Education at UL
The Graduate School at the University of Limerick supports the development and delivery of research and taught postgraduate programmes across the four faculties and provides a range of support services for postgraduate students. The University offers over 90 taught postgraduate programmes (full-time and part-time) and an extensive range of postgraduate research opportunities in areas of Business, Science & Engineering, Education & Health Sciences and Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences.
Taught Postgraduate Programmes
A taught postgraduate degree involves attending lectures and tutorials (similar to an undergraduate degree). Students undertake exams and have essays or projects to complete during the year.
Postgraduate Research Programmes
A research degree involves in-depth study of a specific topic. All research students have an academic supervisor who provides guidance and support during the research process. Students study for a Masters by research or for a PhD.
A range of grants, scholarships and other financial assistance are available to research postgraduate students. The University offers a number of internal scholarships and students can also apply for funded postgraduate positions offered by individual departments or research centres.

UL Alumni Association
The University of Limerick Alumni Association (ULAA) links UL graduates and their alma mater. Membership of ULAA is free and automatic for all UL graduates and enables them to maintain a life-long relationship with UL. Graduates also benefit from a wide range of services including class reunions, alumni newsletter, UL-crested memorabilia/souvenir gift items and access to a variety of UL alumni chapters around the world. With an office on campus, ULAA is also responsible for coordinating UniversaL - an online community for UL alumni worldwide, providing a unique opportunity to connect with other graduates via the ULAA website.
