What's on Campus

Places to Eat on Campus

The University offers a wide choice of restaurants, which include large self-service restaurants offering high quality home cooked food at budget conscious prices, a variety of small restaurants, stylish cafes and bar / restaurants which serve food late into the evening. Restaurants include:

Red Raisin Café (Cafeteria) – large self service café offering a variety of hot and cold snacks, Starbucks coffees and Subway sandwiches.

Eden - Main University Restaurant - offers a “student special” hot dish every day, pizzas, carvery, soup, sandwiches, coffee and snacks.

Plaza Café, Glucksman Library – coffee shop in the Library which serves hot and cold lunches and snacks.

Café Allegro, Foundation Building – just the place for a treat, serving speciality coffee, gateaux, gourmet panini sandwiches and salads

Café @roma, Computer Science Building – speciality coffees, hot chocolate, hot dishes of the day, salads and hot and cold sandwiches.

Cube Cafe – offers a variety of Deli sandwiches, salads, hot dishes, soup, speciality coffee and snacks.

Café Sportif – a variety of healthy options, hot dishes, salads, sandwiches and health drinks

Paddock Restaurant – opens for breakfast and serves hot dishes, sandwiches and snacks throughout the day.

Ciarans Juice and Vegetarian Café – Ciaran’s Café in Dromroe village is a new healthy eats café specialising in delicious hot veggie dishes, hearty soups, salads, juices and desserts.

Blas Café, Irish World Academy Building – hand crafted breads, sandwiches, homemade soup, scones, pastries, and pies.







Bar/Restaurants

There are three Club / restaurants on campus, which operate as social club style venues for students and staff. They offer good value hot meals, sandwiches, snacks and coffee throughout the day and snack food during the evenings.

  • The Scholars’ Club

Shopping On Campus

The Student Centre offers a variety of essential retail services required by students on a daily basis. It is designed to be the social hub on campus where students meet, relax and participate in many of the activities organised by Clubs and Societies.

Bank – Ulster Bank offers student banking, Bureau de Change and ATM facility.

Bookshop – O’Mahony’s Booksellers stock all academic course titles, novels, stationery, newspapers and magazines.

Foodstore – the Students’ Union run a SPAR supermarket providing a range of foods, breads, confectionery, sandwiches and hot snacks.

Launderette – a serviced laundry and dry cleaning facility.

Snap Printing – Print store offering a full range of printing services.

Travel Shop – USIT provide a specialist travel service with student rates for travel worldwide.

Crèche – Silver Apples Crèche. A number of places are available to students with families each year.

Uni-Cycle - The ULSU Bike Shop is open for sales and repairs from Tuesday to Saturday. There are a number of models of bicycle available, both new and second hand.

UL Farmers’ market – The Farmers’ Market is held every Tuesday in the SU Courtyard. This weekly market brings local food producers into the centre of the university campus and boasts a wide variety of stalls, including organic fruit and vegetables, fresh chutney, jams and sauces, homemade farmhouse cheeses, sushi, speciality breads and pastries, and artisan chocolates. The Farmers’ Market initiative is part of a broader movement to encourage ethical consumption and sustainable development within the university and is hugely popular with staff and students alike.
