Conversations in the Consortium

Conversations in the Consortium. A forum for discussing third level teaching and learning

“Good conversation feeds the spirit; it feels good; it reminds us of our ideals and hopes for education; it confirms that we are not alone in our frustrations and doubts or in our small victories.” (Clark, 2001: 181)

The Conversations in the Consortium are run across the Shannon Consortium, and are open to all. In UL, events take place on Wednesdays during the semester, between 11 and 2pm.

The aim is to provide a supportive, collegial and informal space in which to tease out and discuss topics of interest and/or concern in third level teaching and learning. The format is quite straightforward: volunteer panellists give a short presentation to frame the topic at hand and then open up a discussion which provide an opportunity for us to share our thoughts, ideas and experiences. The potential for these conversations to provide new avenues for professional collaboration – and maybe even solve some problems! – is vast.

If you have a particular interest in some aspect of teaching and learning that you would like propose as a topic for discussion, we would love to hear from you!
