Primary Teachers Summer Course Dancing to Learn: Learning to Dance Department of Education approved (course number 320) This 5-day course for Primary School Teachers will run from 9.00 to 16.30 each day. It is designed to give you an intensive experience in dance education, to increase your abilities and confidence in setting long and short-term goals for dance in your school and help you to plan, deliver and assess a dance curriculum with your classes. The course will be a mixture of practical dance workshops with theory back up, discussions, and individual time with the tutors. It will:
- stimulate children’s imagination in dance
By the end of the week you will leave the course with a tailor -made resource pack to help you teach dance to your class. Tutor: Brigitte Moody is currently acting Director of the Graduate Diploma /MA in Dance at the University of Limerick and has taught Dance Education on that course for a number of years. For 25 years in education her contribution has been to undergraduate, post graduate, initial teacher training, In-Service and Continued Professional Development in the UK and Ireland. She has lectured in the UK at De Montfort University, University of Birmingham and Leeds University Her specialist area is Educational Dance and she has tutored students for primary teaching practice and post primary Physical Education. Her current research explores the kinds of knowledge developed (practically and theoretically) through participation in and learning through dance. |
