Introduction
The Graduate Diploma in dance is a one-year, part-time programme of study.
By means of providing interested teachers with a unique opportunity to
develop appropriate dance education skills, the course aims to promote
a dance culture and develop greater participation in the art of dance
in Ireland. At the same time, the Graduate Diploma in Dance enables participants
to acquire the necessary skills to teach up to and including the LCPE
level by focusing on the aesthetic/artistic/dance components of such a
certificate. Finally, the Graduate Diploma in Dance stimulates the creation
of specific teaching programmes both within and outside the formal education
system, thus being open to diverse categories of teachers and others interested
in dance.
The emphasis is on participants’ own professional development. Those
wishing to extend the Graduate Diploma in Dance into a Masters Degree
will be expected to present satisfactory standards of work throughtout
the course and will be required to meet
University entry standards in this regard.
