Knowledge Transfer
Knowledge Transfer in an academic environment is concerned with the dissemination, utilization and application of research findings. Traditional methods of knowledge transfer academics engage in include teaching, presenting research findings at conferences or publishing in academic journals. Knowledge transfer is also concerned with reaching audiences outside academia and building mutually beneficial relationships with policy-makers, local groups and communities, government organisations and the general public.
The knowledge transfer office offers a number of services to academic staff and researchers such as:
- Provision of up-to-date information about knowledge transfer
- Assistance with publishing in public media
- Assistance with organising knowledge transfer activities
- Assistance with developing knowledge transfer strategies/plans for research projects
- Sourcing/establishing contact with potential target groups for the dissemination of research findings
