Welcome to the Department of Sociology at University of Limerick, Ireland. Our Department was founded in May 2003 and is located within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.   You can find our offices on Floor One of the Foundation (Concert Hall) Building at UL.  The Department of Sociology has won numerous awards for teaching excellence and it hosts varied and vigorous research activity on a broad range of themes, representing a number of different methodological traditions.  It is actively involved in a range of research projects in the Institute for the Study of knowledge and Society (ISKS) and recently co-organized the third Winter School in Social Science Research Methods.  The Department of Sociology is also home to SOCHEOLAS, The Limerick Student Journal of Sociology which is freely available on-line.
