Diploma in Supply Chain Management - Level 8
The development of this programme was inspired by a specific demand from industry to meet the clear need to upskill current personnel who have shown the aptitude and track record of competence in supply chain operations to aspire to a degree level qualification.
Supply-chain enterprise’s operate in a highly dynamic business environment characterised by three Cs – change in globalisation such as outsourcing, change in product possibilities and expectations such as product-service bundling, and change in ways of integrating businesses such as the emergence of enterprise networks.
This programme’s content aligns with content within the framework of the Supply-Chain Council’s Supply Chain Operations Reference model (SCOR). While in the form of a template, this model places operations planning and control centrally in a way that prior implicit framings did not and so provides a basis for the strongly conceptual navigations that supply-chain managers face in their everyday lives. The programme combines strong human factors, cause-effect modelling, and process improvement orientations to leverage innovative opportunities.
This is a one-year, part-time course, will develop participants' Supply Chain Management skills. The one year distance education diploma will provide education and practical application of the SCOR™ Framework concepts, enabling participating companies gain competitive advantage through the application of Lean principles to drive improvement with measurable results. A company-based project will form a key element of the programme, ensuring the integration of the various concepts in the participants’ workplace. It will provide participants with a practical the tools and techniques needed to understand Supply Chain Management within their own organisation.
The course comprises 10 modules, delivered through online blended learning. There are two compulsory on campus weeks one in May 9th to 14th 2011 and October 17th to 22nd 2011 where students engage in workshops and activities to explore the issues in contemporary Supply Chain Management.
