Companies can seldom arrange for their engineering or technical staff to work on development projects away from the day to day operation of the plant. Similarly, the
smaller manufacturer may not have the necessary expertise in-house to undertake such projects.
In these cases the centre is a valuable resource to the manufacturer, as it can provide a complete solution to the project in hand without tying
up valuable technical staff indefinitely. Some of the projects recently completed or in progress
at the centre are:
Automated endurance test rig for office furniture
Automated contactor contact test
System for debris build-up removal
Robotic beef
boning equipment
Automated Magnet Bonding System
Multi-Vendor Bus
Technology Small
Thermostat Assembly
Automated
Shearing of disposable underwear
Funding Support
With both National and European encouragement for innovation and increased competitiveness in the manufacturing and process industries, there often
exist suitable funding resources for Industrial-Academic partner projects. The centre, in the position of academic partner can assist in the preparation of proposals
for such funding, and subsequently work towards the completion of these projects.
