Research Interests.
- Human factors in designing - with reference to spatial
and design intelligences and lateralisation.
- The cognitive developmental effects of drawing, sketching
and graphic ideation.
- Development of spatial abilities as a strategy in
improving individual proformances in engineering and
technology education.
- Computer modelling as a visualisation and communication
tool.
- Web-sites as a self-teach medium in visualisation,
design, and graphic/spatial encoding and communication
skills.
- Technology education in the curriculum of second level
schools.
Some Final Year Student's Web-site projects
under my supervision.
1997.
- Interactive
Internet - A Technical Graphics Tutorial on the Internet.
By Declan Quinn,
B. Tech. (ED) Prog. 9314253.
- The aim of this project was to investigate
the potential of the Internet as a specific
interactive medium for use in
graphics/visualisation tutorials. It is aimed at
entry level technical graphics students and is
designed to enhance their spatial/visualisation
abilities, and to improve their understanding of
projection systems.
- Electronics
Support Page.
By Aidan Flynn, B. Tech. (ED) Prog. 9314156.
- This web site contains animations to
complement the electronics teaching resource
material, produced as part of a FYP on
electronics support material for second level
teachers and students.
1998.
Structural Forms and Concepts Web Site.
By Geraldine Gildea, B. Tech. (ED) Prog. 9422595.
- This web site is designed as a resource for the Proposed New Leaving Certificate Construction Studies course. It contains information on structures, both natural and manmade.
