So far you have been introduced to the various planes and the views that appear on these planes. You should also understand how we locate these views by looking in at 90º to the plane and then projecting the object onto the plane (remember the shadow been cast onto the plane). What we are going to do now is locate the plan, elevation and end view of a block of wood, as you would do on a sheet of paper. Here is the block of wood we are going to use. We choose the views which show the most information about the object. Therefore the end view we choose is the one we get when we look in from the left, because when we look in from the right the HEIGHT of the first step is covered by the vertical wall.
