University of Limerick 3-17 Cork RTC 0-13

The University of Limerick Senior Hurling Team continued their recent good run with a thirteen point win over Cork RTC. The winners were in control throughout leading by 1-12 to 0-5 at the interval, scores coming from Jimmy Coogan (4 points), David Forde, Rory Gantley, Brian O Driscoll and Brendan Coleman (2 each) and an outstanding goal by Fergal Healy. Cork RTC put up some resistance early in the second half but this was quickly repelled by goals from Brendan Coleman and Brian O’ Driscoll. Further points were added by Coogan (2) , Healy(3) leaving the final score at UL 3-17 Cork RTC 0-13. UL had fine displays from Damien Garrihy, Enda Flannery, Karl Quinn, Enda Flannery, Eoin Sheedy, David Forde, Rory Gantley, Brendan Coleman and Jimmy Coogan. UL have hit a rich vein of form at present and are in intensive training, under the guidance of Sean Stack, for the Fitzgibbon competition in February. Incidently the Fitzgibbon is being held in Mary I, Limerick this year.
