Rain in the east clearing early to leave a bright fresh day with sunny periods and just a few scattered showers. Highest temperatures 13 to 16 degrees in a blustery westerly wind. Showers will become more widespread in the north-west this evening. But many other parts of the country will be dry. A frontal trough is moving away eastwards and a blustery westerly airflow is developing over the country.
