ICSE 2002 Invitation

By Will Tracz

It may seem like a long way and a long time away, but now is a good time to put 19-26 May 2002 on your calendar and bookmark http://www.icse-conferences.org. Plans are being coordinated with the co-sponsor, SADIO (Sociedad Argentina de Informática e Investigación Operativa) to hold ICSE in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The PC co-chairs will be Michal Young, from the University of Oregon, and Jeff Magee from Imperial College. Local arrangements chair is Viviana L. Rubinstein from Liveware with assistance from Hector Monteverde and Pilar Suter from SADIO. A regional planning committee has been established involving representatives from Brasil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

As general chair, I can assure you that Buenos Aires will provide a safe setting with a unique relaxed charm and high-tech tension. Air travel is currently available for under $1000 from the States, Frankfurt, and Sydney. An additional discount will be available from the conference airline (check the web page for information). In addition, attendees will have an ample selection of conveniently located 4 star hotels to choose from in the $80-$120 price range (tax and breakfast included). Negotiations are currently underway for the conference venue.

The theme of the conference is: "Striving for perfection in an imperfect world."

See you there!
