When
I was about two or three my mother took me to a nursery school,
she'd had enough of me at home. I was having none of it. I refused
to stay at the school, this must have been the start of my grand
rebellion against education.
I think
I was four when I started in Clandeboye
Road Primary School. When I reached P4 I was kept back a year.
I didnt pass my eleven plus.
My parents
paid for me to go to Bangor Grammar School
in 1964. The idea was that if you got good grades then you would
be let in. It wasn't till second form that I upped my grades and
from third form onwards my parents didn't have to pay fees.
Aftern
I left Bangor Grammar School in 1971 I got a job in the Department
of Clild Health in the Royal Victoria Hospital and day release
to study Chemistry in Ulster Polytechnic
now Ulster University.
I didn't graduate but in 1973 I went to Warwick
University. It didn't suit me and I left after 1 year.
In 1974
I enroled again in Ulster Polytechnic to
study HNC Chemistry. I graduated in 1976 much to the delight of
my parents.
In 2005
I enroled with University of Limerick
to study for MA in Elearning
Design and Development. I graduated in 2007. |
