I
was only eleven when I played one of the children in Bangor
Amateur Operatic Societies BAOS Production of The Musicman
in The Little Theatre, Bangor.
We took the show to Waterford
to the festival of light opera. This was an annual pilgrimage
for BAOS. In the next years I took an active role in different
parts of the society. In 1976 when I was in 5th Bangor Sea
Scouts I did a sketch and a few numbers in the Bangor Gang
Show. Iit wasn't until 1983 that I formed the first of a
few acting groups. At work, NIHE,
there were a few of us who wanted to tread the boards, I
wanted to try my hand at directing so we formed The
Concert Party. Then in 1984 I joined the Granary
Players. In the Granary players I made friends with
John Hanamy, he had written numerous plays and when Tullamore
Festival contacted us to do a show over the weekend of the
festival we jumped at the chance and produced the Complete
Works of Skakespear in 30 minutes. It was an unbridled success
so we put together a group "Pretentious
Productions" and performed similar works writing
and performing. In the mean time I was acting with The Granary
and Pretentious Productions kinda broke up when John went
to live in Dublin. The Cecilian Musical society asked me
to take a part in "Anything Goes" here I met Joyce
Bradfield Terry Cashman and Chris Rowley. We put together
an acting company JB Productions. Le Groupe asked me to
take a part in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to
the Forum". The Torch Players were the next company
to ask me to act with them and it wasn't until 2004 when
nerves got the better of me and I took my last part in Blithe
Spirit. I have compiled a list of all the productions I
was involved with in chronological order you can view them
