ULSSC: How to find us.

The club is based at the University of Limerick Activity Centre, about half an hours drive from the main campus, about twenty minutes if there is no traffic, Access to ULAC from 5.30pm every Tuesday evening until dusk. Members usually aim to leave UL between 4.45 and 5pm aiming to miss the main "after work" traffic and arrive at the centre for 5.30pm. Often new members arrive early to get some practice rigging the boats. Half an hour is usually all that it takes to rig the boats and change into sailing gear.

There are three commonly used routes to travel to the University of Limerick Activity Centre (ULAC) from UL/ Limerick City.

  • From UL, take the (R496) old Dublin Road, at Daly's Cross turn left onto the R525, keep going for about 6 miles and after passing through "O Brian's Bridge" and over the bridge, take a right at the T junction with the R463 road towards Killaloe, stay on this road until you are about 3 miles past Killaloe. ULAC is on your right hand side.
  • From UL, take the (R496) old Dublin Road until Birdhill and then take the next left towards Killaloe / Ballina (R494). Once in Ballina cross the bridge to Killaloe ( The traffic lights on this bridge can take a while.) Immediately after the bridge take the next right on to the Scarriff road (R463) and proceed for about 3 miles and the ULAC is on your right hand side.
  • From Limerick City, it is usually best to take the back road to Killaloe (R463), until you are about 3 miles the far side of Killaloe.

The Google map on the right will allow you to zoom in for more details, or see the map as a satellite image. The ULSSC pendant icon identifies the location where the club sails from the UL Activity Centre.

Please ignore the loop at the end of the journey, it is due to a porblem with google maps.
