Sign in and out
Everybody must sign in on arrival and before leaving the centre, regardless of whether they plan on launching a boat.
When signing in, note the exact time all boats must be off the water from the club notice board. If racing Be present for the Race Officer's briefing.
Rigging your dinghy.
Always point your dinghy towards the wind before you start rigging it.
If your unsure of the wind direction, ask someone.
If leaving a vision with the sails up, furl the jib.
If you are unsure about rigging your boat, ask for assistance.
Check your boat before launch: bungs in, rudders tied on.
It is your responsibility to ensure your boat is ready to launch.
Once you have rigged your own boat
Before launching your boat
Ask yourself, are you experienced enough for the conditions?
If unsure, consult with Club Safety Officer.
Replace any missing or damaged equipment before going out on the water.
No boats may launch until a safety boat is on the water.
Buoyancy aids must be worn at all times when on the water! and are provided by the Activity Centre.
While on the lake
When out on the water the rescue boat driver is GOD!! and we all have to follow their instructions. Always remain within a safe distance of the rescue boat.
Items to report
If you experience any equipment porblems, be sure to report them to the Safety Officer at the Centre.
When Launching and recovering
The slip way to the left of the breakwater is for launching.
After launching your boat, store away your trolley, keeping the slipway clear.
Raise and secure centreboard and rudder before launch.
Remember the harbour area inside the rocks is shallow!
Walk boats out half way or more.
When Recovering your dinghy
When returning to your dinghy to shore turn the boat "head to wind" and get out at the breakwater
Lift centreboard and rudder once inside small yellow buoys at breakwater
When ashore keep your boat pointed towards the wind until the sails are removed.
Replace all boats and equipment in their proper place i.e.: boats neatly parked, sails in the sail loft.
If equipment is broken or not working properly inform the Safety Officer and Centre.
Hang up your wet suit on its size category hanger.
Hang up your buoyancy aid.
Your own Buoyancy aids ?
If using your own these should meet the Activity Centre's standard (CE 50 Newton rated, with reflective strips).
