The Choir & Rehearsals

The Choir is formed by around 30 singers (students and staff). The Choir is conducted Gerard Culloty, a percussionist and conductor specialised in Gopsel music. A small Committee of singers are involved in the running of the choir.

Image of swan on the River Shannon taken after choir rehearsal (3th of May 2000).Since 1999 the Choir has been specialising in polyphonic music of the 16th and 17th century, having performed -among other pieces- T .L. de Victoria's O Vos Omnes, Lassus' Adoramus Te, Jaquet de Mantua's O Jesu Christe, Janequin's Faisons le dire. Other pieces performed this year include Gabriel Faure's Cantique de Jean Racine, and Benjamin Britten's Hodie from "A Ceremony of Carols".

Rehearsals

The UL Gospels Singers will recommence rehearsals on this Thursday 20 September2007 ( 5.00 - 6.30 pm) in room CO 078/CO 079, Music Rooms, Block C of the main building.

Over the past two years the choir has focussed on a Gospel repertoire and performs at least two fund-raising concerts a year. New members are warmly invited to join....especially male voices! No previous experience necessary. If you like to sing, please join us for music and enjoyment every Thurs evening.
