Course Overview:

Lean is a set of management strategies and tools that is geared to improve process flow while eliminating waste and improving quality. This Lean Black Belt course, aims to develop participants’ process improvement
skills, and will provide education and practical application to a Black Belt level in Lean. A company-based project will form a key element of the programme, ensuring the integration of the various concepts in the participants’ workplace.

University of Limerick Specialist Diploma. NFQ Level 9, Minor award, 30 Credits

Duration:

9 months, and is run over two semesters, each 15 weeks.

Course Overview:

This Six Sigma Black Belt course, aims to develop participants’ process improvement skills, and will provide education and practical application to a Black Belt level in Six Sigma. The course will enable participating companies gain competitive advantage through the application of Six Sigma principles to drive improvement with measurable results. A company-based project will form a key element of the programme, ensuring the integration of the various concepts in the participants’ workplace.

MSc in Strategic Quality Mgt. Lean Sigma Systems

Course Overview:

This Masters Black Belt programme was designed in collaboration with leading Irish companies to create graduates with the understanding of and capability for both the theory and practical application of quality management tools and techniques, particularly in the areas of Lean and Six Sigma. Graduates of this course will be considered Master Black Belts in Lean and Six Sigma.

Award/Qualification:

University of Limerick Master of Science. NFQ Level 9, Major award, 90 Credits

Duration:

2 years, and is run over four semesters, each 15 weeks.

Professional Doctorate in Engineering

Course Overview:

The Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng) is equivalent in level to a PhD but more vocationally oriented. The traditional PhD requires a contribution to scientific knowledge. In contrast, the Professional Doctorate requires a contribution to professional practice. Rather than one lengthy academically-oriented PhD research project, the Professional Doctorate programme involves solving a significant organizational problem, typically based on the candidate’s work environment.

Award/Qualification:

University of Limerick Professional Doctorate. NFQ Level 10, Major Award, 270 Credits

Duration:

4 years.
